Authorities say alcohol was involved in the
weekend drownings of two men in a Saline County pond.
According to the sheriff`s office, 40-year-old Thomas D-
Bradshaw of Benton reportedly got into a shoving match with his son
over a mutual female friend. The two were at a friend`s house and
the sheriff`s office says most of the people there were
intoxicated.
Bradshaw got into a car and drove around the yard recklessly
before losing control of the vehicle, which crossed a driveway and
traveled about 45 feet before going into the pond.
The son, 20-year-old Keith Bradshaw, 20, and the resident of the
house, 32-year-old Stephen Wayne Hall, tried to rescue the elder
Bradshaw but both the elder Bradshaw and Hall drowned.
The pond was about 12 to 15 feet deep and the water was cold.
The car was located at the bottom of the pond. Authorities say it
wouldn`t have taken long for the men to go into shock because of
the cold.
