breaking news
Two men are in jail and two men are dead after an early morning shooting in Heber Springs. It happened just before 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning at the corner of East Clinton and North Conway streets.
Prosecutors say 18 year old Coty Boileau and 20 year old Jason Odom, both from Heber Springs, tried to go to a going away party for 20 year old Chad Watson, also from Heber Springs.
Witnesses say Watson told Odom and Boileau they weren`t welcome at the party, and the two men left. Prosecutors say both went to Boileau`s home, got a 22 caliber rifle and a 12 guage shot gun, then went back to the party.
Prosecutors say that`s when Jason Odom shot 21 year old Shane Collins from Searcy in the chest, then shot Chad Watson in the head. Both men died at the scene.
Police arrested both Odom and Boileau at separate homes a short time later. They are now in the Cleburne County Jail charged with two counts of capital murder. If convicted, the men could get life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
Jason Odom made his first court appearance this morning where he pleaded not guilty. His trial date is set for January 25th.
Coty Boileau will be arraigned on November 30th.
