Arkansas Unemployment Rate Jumps For October

The Arkansas unemployment rate for October jumped to 5.7 percent, from 5.5 percent a month before. In its announcement, the state Employment Security Department noted that unemployment increased in the state for the second straight month. The national unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a percentage point to 5.5 percent for October. The number of employed people rose by 2,100 jobs, but not enough to offset job losses. The agency says the state has 75,400 jobless.
