Officer-Involved Shooting in Garland County

Garland County authorities are still piecing together what happened in an officer-involved shooting this afternoon. It happened around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon, in a neighborhood just west of Hot Springs, around Shuttle and Quisenberry Streets. Two Hot Springs Police officers headed to a house on Quisenberry Street. The Garland County Sheriff`s office says they were there to get information on a felony warrant out of Fort Worth, Texas. When they arrived, the man they were looking for ran out of the house and into the woods where police chased him. But a spokesman for the Sheriff`s department says they still don`t know what happened when the subject was shot. The man, whose name is not being released yet, was shot in the head and taken to Saint Joseph`s Medical Center in Hot Springs. "Anytime you have an officer involved shooting, everybody moves in and tries to work out facts, and get it set aside as quick as you can or whatever needs to be done," said Lt. Rodney Neighbors, Garland County Sheriff`s Department. Lt. Neighbors says in officer-involved shootings, the officer is commonly placed on administrative leave. There`s no word yet on whether that`s happened. Lt. Neighbors says they are still gathering information from agencies in Fort Worth to find out what the warrant was for.
