Updated: January 7, 2009
Arkansas State police says that careless driving caused a bus to crash on Interstate 55 near Marion, killing 14 including the driver and injuring 16 others. The Arkansas State Police report cites a passenger complaint about the driver eating as he drove south from Chicago, headed toward Tunica, Mississippi. The report said the Walters Charter and Tours bus ran over two signs and was partially airborne as the driver fought to regain control after veering off the interstate at an exit ramp. The report also contains accounts from survivors who said they were sleeping and woke up amid screams. The bus crashed on October Ninth. The federal National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the crash.
