Sardis sustains heavy damage from storms

At least two dozen homes southeast of Sardis in Saline County sustained heavy damage in storms. At least ten people are reported injured, and one was flown by helicopter to a hospital. Another person was reported trapped in a residence where a big tree was blown down. he storms snapped 50-foot pine trees halfway up their trunks, and others were pulled out by their roots. Twisted metal and insulation from mobile homes is stuck in the tops of the trees still standing. Rescuers on four-wheelers are still going through the area.
