West Little Rock Community Staple Closes Down

Updated: January 7, 2009
Thursday night, hundreds of kids played what might be their last football game at a West Little Rock community center. That`s because the least at the Highway 10 Community Center ended. Organizers at the 27-year old center say they had been leasing the park from Deltic Timber Corporation. But they say the company recently asked to have the land back. The group says they hope they`re able to find someplace else for the kids to play. "It`s sad," said Ronnie Hudson, the community center president. "For 21 years this has been my life and I`ve put everything into it. My board of directors have been great the past 21 years, and stuck by me through thick and thin," he said. "We hate to see it close. We hope that somebody can do something," he said. Hudson says the park attracts families from around the area, like Rosedale and Maumelle, as well as West Little Rock.
