Arkansas` flu vaccine supply cut in half

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Arkansas can expect to receive about half as much flu vaccine as it ordered this fall, thanks to some contaminated batches rejected earlier this week by federal regulators. The Health Department says the state ordered 225-thousnd doses, but expects to only get 100-thousand. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rejected 48 (m) million doses of the vaccine made in England because of contamination. That wiped out most of the supply from one of only two companies that make the U-S vaccine. The ruling compelled Congressman Mike Ross to reiterate his calls for a government-run production facility attached to the Pine Bluff arsenal. He says the privately made supply is too unreliable.
