Counterfeit money shows up in Northeast Arkansas

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
There is so much counterfeit money in circulation in northeast Arkansas that three fake 20 dollar bills turned up in the till at Craighead County District Court where people pay fines. Police say the phony cash is circulating in Jonesboro, Blytheville and other areas. Also, on Monday Osceola police arrested a man who possessed 3,000 dollars worth of the counterfeit 20 dollar notes. But plenty of businesses are reporting that the cash is still making the rounds. Detectives say merchants should use special pens to determine whether bills are fake or not. Police say some people passing the phony money may not know it is counterfeit. But police want to question them anyway to try to find the source of the bogus cash.
