Authorities are investigating the shootings that left an entire family dead in Harrisburg.

A source close to the investigation tells KARK 4 News that the deaths are being investigated as a double murder/suicide.

It started Tuesday at 9:00 p.m., when a deputy saw smoke coming from the Leatherwood home off Highway 163 in Harrisburg.

Fire crews doused doused a burning car port, and found the bodies of Greg and Patricia Leatherwood inside the house. Both had been shot.

Authorities went to the family business, Poinsett Glass, to find son Kyle Leatherwood. But they discovered his body in an apartment in the back of the store. He had also been shot.

Retired Baptist preacher Captain Lovell says he baptized Greg Leatherwood, and the Leatherwood family attended his church for 20 years.

"I never knew anything bad about that family," Lovell said. "They were a good family in church, as good as you could ever ask for."

Witt's End waitress Debbie Costner says she knew Greg and Patricia Leatherwood for 30 years, and they came into the restaurant often.

"There's very few people in town that don't know them," Costner said. "They're just really fine people, and they're going to be missed."

A State Police spokesperson says all three bodies were taken to the State Crime Lab in Little Rock to determine the exact cause and time of death.
