A memorial service for federal appeals judge
Richard Sheppard Arnold drew hundreds of friends and colleagues,
who remembered the judge for his intelligence and fairness.
Arnold was a judge on the Eighth US Circuit Court of Appeals in
St. Louis. He died Thursday at age 68.
Arnold largely fashioned the service himself. The Trinity
Episcopal Cathedral funeral included 36 players from the Arkansas
Symphony Orchestra performing "Abide With Me."
The service included no formal eulogy, but in a homily the
Reverend Gary McConnell of Searcy talked about his long friendship
and spiritual relationship with the late judge.
Arnold`s ashes were later interred at St. Margaret`s Episcopal
following a brief ceremony.
