Entergy will raise rates

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Entergy customers` bills will rise by an average of 38 cents per month now that state regulators have allowed the company to recover costs from an aborted deregulation effort. The average residential customer`s bill will increase by 37.7 cents and commercial bills by 33.6 cents for every thousand kilowatt-hours used. The average residential customer in Arkansas uses about a thousand kilowatt-hours each month. The Arkansas Public Service Commission allowed Entergy Arkansas to recover up to 8.5 million dollars over the next 16 months by charging the higher rates. The money needs to be recovered because the state implemented requirements for opening the energy industry to competition in 1999, but then repealed the law in 2003.
