A federal lawsuit alleges Wal-Mart Stores discriminates against blacks seeking truck driving jobs with the world`s largest retailer. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Little Rock, seeks class action status. The plaintiff, Daryal T. Nelson of Coldwater, Miss., alleges that Wal-Mart rejects and discourages black applicants for truck driving jobs at the chain`s distribution centers in 12 Southern states. The 12 are Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. Wal-Mart spokesman Gus Whitcomb said he couldn`t comment on the lawsuit because he hadn`t seen it. However, he said, the company does NOT discriminate in its hiring practices.
