There`s no denying that at time, politics can turn ugly for candidates. The lonoke County Sheriff believes his race turned violent over the weekend. It happened in the parking lot of Ward City Hall. Sheriff Jim Roberson and candidate Charlie Martin each gave political speeches there Saturday night. Sheriff Roberson says Charlie Martin`s brother David, verbally and physically assaulted him as he left the event. Roberson says he suffered minor injuries as they fell to the ground. Former Sheriff and candidate Charlie Martin says that isn`t the way it happened. He says it was just an accident. Martin says his brother is legally blind and offered medical documents to prove it. Martin says his brother accidentally bumped into Roberson and the two fell. No charges have been filed.
