Entergy`s plan to control aquatic
vegetation at Lake Hamilton has been so successful that it won`t have to draw down as much water this year as it has in the past. Entergy lowered the lake levels by nine feet each of the last
two years, but will only have to draw down five feet this year. Similarly, Lake Catherine will be lowered three feet this winter. Both lakes will return to normal depth in the spring after levels drop three to six inches a day in mid-November. The Entergy plan releases Eurasian milfoil, a plant that has clogged parts of Lake Hamilton in the past. The drawdowns also help
maintain the shoreline.
