Pine Bluff City Council Defeats Anti-Noise Ordinance

Updated: January 7, 2009
Car-stereo dealers won`t get a free pass to violate Pine Bluff`s anti-noise ordinance. At Tuesday`s City Council meeting, members voted five-to-three against a proposal that would have allowed the dealers to turn up the volume on their speakers to demonstrate their wares. Alderman Jackie Kirby had offered the measure, which would have allowed the car-stereo dealers to exceed the city`s limits on noise levels, during certain hours of most days. Kirby introduced his measure after several car-stereo dealers had to pay $175 tickets issued by police.
