Senator Blanche Lincoln has raised more than 143 times as much money for her re-election campaign as her Republican challenger. But GOP challenger state Senator Jim Holt of Springdale says
he doesn`t think he`s underfunded. The latest campaign finance reports show that Holt has raised 38,298 dollars, compared to Lincoln`s 5.5 million dollars. Lincoln`s reports and an analysis by a Washington group that
tracks political donations show that a greater share of individual contributions to her campaign came from out of state than from Arkansans. Statistics from the Center for Responsive Politics show that since Lincoln took office in 1999, about 40
percent of her contributions have come from Arkansans. The group says the 60-40 ratio is higher than average, but not unexpected for a rural senator. Holt said the proportion of Lincoln`s out of state contributors shows that she is too close to Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, a senator from Massachusetts. Of Holt`s individual campaign contributions all but 250 dollars came from Arkansans.
