Arkansas democrats have wrapped up their state convention nearly one month to the day after the national event ended in Boston. The party is hoping to increase support for Democratic Presidential Nominee John Kerry. "Arkansas is truly a battleground state," says Lottie Shackelford, vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee. "We are working to get our message out." About 28 staffers from the national headquarters have set up shop in Little Rock to battle for the state`s six electoral votes. Shackelford says 50 democrats are currently in New York City, the site of the Republican National Convention. The convention begins on Monday. "We will have a full-fledged operation and our whole theme is mission not accomplished," she said.
