The Arkansas Democratic Party today released 26 names which they say have strong Republican ties, yet signed a petition for independent candidate Ralph Nader to appear on the November ballot.
"They know that Arkansas is a battleground state and their transparent effort to help Ralph Nader shows how worried they are about Bush`s prospects in the election," says Ron Oliver, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Arkansas.
Yet Republicans contend there was no organized effort.
Ed Garner, a former Republican congressional candidate, signed the petition. He says he did it so Arkansans would have a choice.
"to not sign the petition is to make the statement I don`t want this person to be on the ballot. I don`t want Arkansans to have the opportunity to vote for who they want."
