Arkansas` ACT Test Scores Increase

Arkansas students continue to show improvement in the ACT college entrance exam, but scores are still a little below the national average. Scores in Arkansas rose by a tenth of a point but remain a half point below the national average. Arkansas students improved their scores for the third year in a row. In results released today, Arkansas students scored an average 20.4 on the test out of a possible 36. Nationally, the average was 20.9. The test measures English, math, reading and science. Of those subjects, Arkansas students improved or remained the same compared to last year in all areas except English. Overall, Arkansas students` composite score ranks above border states Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The country`s lowest rank went to Washington, DC, which had a 17.8. The highest was Vermont with a 22.7.
