An organizer says this year`s Hope Watermelon
Festival could be the biggest in several years.
Hope Chamber of Commerce director Mark Keith says at least 253
booths for vendors and exhibitors have been arranged.
The event started today and runs through Sunday.
In addition to the arts and crafts vendors, lots of activities
and events are scheduled for visitors.
The traditional watermelon judging and auction will begin at ten
a-m Saturday.
Other traditional events slated include a dog show, an antique
car show and motorcycle show. There`s also a watermelon-eating
contest, seed spitting contest, arm-wrestling contest, horseshoe
tournament and "hillbilly horseshoes."
