Police recaptured an inmate early this
morning who had escaped from a prison system work crew working at
the Arkansas State University campus yesterday.
Prison officials said Craighead County police found 23-year-old
James T- Hall walking along the side of the road in Jonesboro at
about two o`clock this morning. He had four months until he was
eligible for parole. Hall had escaped by taking a black pickup truck that had
the
keys left in the ignition. He was serving two and a half years for
second-degree battery and aggravated assault convictions from
Craighead County and a theft of property charge from Poinsett
County.
Prison spokeswoman Dina Tyler said the work crew was based in
Mississippi County and was cleaning a ditch on the Arkansas State
campus, in Craighead County, when Hall escaped.
