Details Of Amendment Two Announced Today

Updated: January 7, 2009
A group supporting a proposed state constitutional amendment that they say would boost economic development in Arkansas plan to announce a campaign to get it passed this morning. Amendment Two is on the November ballot. It would give legislators the power to use millions of dollars of state money to attract super projects, such as an automobile plant, without requiring a popular vote. The projects would have to create at least 500 jobs and bring at least 500 million dollars to the state economy. Former state economic development director Jim Pickens is leading the push for the amendment.
