A new study about lunchbox temperatures is giving parents pause as they prepare to send their kids off to school.

Food science experts at the University of Texas in Austin found 98-percent of 700 packed lunches for young children were either too cold or warm for their children to safely eat.

Researchers also discovered 90-percent of the lunches that were packed with ice still moved into the temperature danger zone.

Over 60-percent of the lunches were more than 20-degrees higher than recommended by lunchtime.

Experts say parents can ensure their kids are eating food at safe temperatures by putting more than one ice pack in lunches, freezing meals overnight and by putting boiling water into thermoses for meals like soup.
