Minority and Youth Groups Receive Tobacco Settlement Money

Thousands of dollars in tobacco settlement money is getting put to good use. Today, the Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Arkansas distributed almost $450,000 to nine community organizations that work with youth or minority groups.
These groups will focus on getting adults to stop smoking and keeping children from starting.

"We are actually putting money directly into area where we have the greatest problems. This money is directed into areas where our minority communities are prevalent," explained Dr. Fay Boozman, director of the Arkansas Department of Health.
The grants are also aimed at reducing exposure to secondhand smoke.
