Elderly Targeted In Scam

Attorney General Mike Beebe is issuing warning after a few cases of individuals were able to talk their way into Cross County homes and steal cash and personal information. Beebe`s office said at least two homes were entered by people claiming to work with the local Area Agency on Aging. Instead they stole stole hundreds of dollars and gained personal information from their victims. There really are Area Agencies on Aging.. eight district offices in Arkansas. They assist thousands of senior Arkansans. In this particular scam a man talked his way into a woman`s home, asked for her Medicare information, and then took measurements around her house. She said she saw him get into an unmarked car with another man to leave and noticed the missing money. Beebe said legitimate Area Agency case workers wear name badges that say who they are, and drive marked agency vehicles when they visit homes.
