Officials in Franklin County say a 17-year-old girl who got lost while hiking on a trail near a campsite was found unharmed after spending the night in the woods. Lacy Shires became lost near the Shores Lake area in Franklin County around 6 p.m. Sunday. Search teams looked for the girl for more than 12 hours before finding her miles from her family`s campsite yesterday morning. Search and rescue teams from Franklin, Madison, Crawford and Sebastian counties helped in the search through the rough terrain. Officials say Shires was thirsty and had plenty of bug bites, but she was in good spirits. Authorities said Shires somehow left the hiking trail and searched all night for a main road. She walked an estimated 14 miles before she was found.
