Pine Bluff Police Dept. Solves City`s Homicides

Updated: January 7, 2009
Pine Bluff police have solved all five of the city`s 2004 homicides. The department, which struggled with financial problems and a lack of manpower attributes the success to the re-assignment of officers. At least $1 million was slashed from the department`s 2004 budget. PBPD is also down about 15 officers. Violent crime fell over the past year because of an emphasis in community policing but commercial and residential burglaries rose sharply, police said.
