Updated: January 7, 2009
The Republican candidate for the US Senate seat now held by Democrat Blanche Lincoln reports having raised about $35,000 for his race. That stands in contrast to the $5.5 million dollars raised by incumbent Democrat Blanche Lincoln. Steve Patterson, Lincoln`s campaign manager, said the senator`s fund-raising goal is $7 million dollars. The Republican challenger -- state Senator Jim Holt of Springdale -- reports he has raised $35,494 through June 30th. Lincoln`s campaign reported having spent $2.9 million dollars, for a June 30th cash-on-hand balance of $2.7 million dollars. Holt`s campaign reported $3,443 in its treasury as of June 30th, after spending $32,056. Holt says the Republican National Committee is backing his race, but he`s waiting to see whether the national party will include financial support.
