Older Americans Heading Back To Work

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
More older Americans are choosing business over pleasure, according to a new study. The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics says the number of workers 55 or older grew to 22.7 million in May. That`s up from 22 million last year and 20.7 million in 2002. Many believe the cost of living is to blame. "They understestimated how much it was going to cost them to live," says Charley Baxter, director of the Patrick Henry Hays Senior Center. "Gasoline prices are up and so is the price of milk," he said. Baxter, 55, also said many seniors find retirement boring.
