Developers To Build Upscale Shopping Center In Maumelle

A trio of developers say they will build an upscale shopping center on nearly 38 acres of land. The land, purchased for $3.4 million, is centered right in the center of the city along Maumelle boulevard between Audobon and Odom. "In Maumelle, the only place you can buy blue jeans and underwear is at a yard sale," said Mayor Burch Johnson. "We would certainly welcome retail out here," he said. The mayor says there`s no word yet on when construction will start.
