New Hospital To Open In Van Buren County

A new hospital is readying to open in Van Buren
County. The new facility will be called Ozark Health Hospital. The
area`s current hospital is 50 years old. Hospital administrators
said that the region`s population grew by 15 percent in the 1990s
and that convinced them that they could sustain the facility.
Without the new hospital patients would have to travel 50 miles
to get medical care. The hospital has been under construction for
four years and was funded with a one cent sales tax that generated
13 point eight million dollars, a bond that brought in three
million and a federal loan for two million.
Local family doctor Harry Starnes said he hopes the new hospital
will attract more physicians to the area. The facility is set to
open in August.
