New World Championship Tiller

Emerson crowned a new tiller race champion yesterday at the town`s annual Purple Hull Pea Festival. Shane Waller of Parkers Chapel drove his tiller down the 200-foot track in 5.72 seconds, beating the previous record of 6.12 seconds. It was the first championship for Waller, who narrowly lost the race the two previous years. This year, he upgraded his tiller from two to four cylinders. Waller`s wife Lauri won the women`s division. It was Lauri Waller`s third consecutive win. She won using the same tiller her husband used to win his division.
