Lawyers are to make closing arguments
Wednesday in the trial of former Arkansas basketball coach Nolan
Richardson`s federal discrimination suit against the university.
Richardson claims his firing in 2002 was based on biased
treatment by university officials. The university claims it let
Richardson go after he publicly called for a buyout of his
contract. When Richardson sued, he asked for his old job back. In
court filings last week, the ex-coach amended that request --
saying he didn`t want to return to the school. Instead, Richardson
asked the judge to award nearly nine million dollars in
damages.
