Newly-Elected Aldermen To Fully Fund Pensions

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Aldermen appointed to Pine Bluff`s City Council must now pay for their entire pensions. Council members approved the measure Monday night. Members currently pay 3% of their pension. The city picks up the remaining 7%. Under the new law, members elected after July 1st would pay the entire 10%. 3rd Ward Alderman Wayne Easterly sponsored the measure because of the city`s budget crisis. Aldermen currently serving on the council are unaffected by the new law.
