A judge has granted doctors at Arkansas Children`s Hospital permission to give a youngster a blood transfusion after the child`s mother refused consent. Pulaski County Circuit Judge Willard Proctor signed an emergency order allowing the procedure after he concluded it was necessary to save the child`s life. Stephanie Thomas told Proctor that she opposed a blood transfusion for her daughter, Jada, on religious grounds because she is a Jehovah`s Witness. An affidavit said Jada needed heart surgery, which might require a blood transfusion.
