Two sales-tax proposals -- one permanent, the other temporary -- were rejected by voters in Arkadelphia. The taxes would have gone toward recreational facilities. In a special election Tuesday, a proposed permanent quarter-percent sales tax to pay for parks maintenance and operations was rejected 778-to-493, according to complete but unofficial results. In the same election, voters also turned down a proposed temporary three-quarter-percent sales tax by a similar margin.
