An Arkansas state trooper and two police officers from Sherwood are on paid leave while the shooting of a suspect after a chase is investigated. Twenty-six-year-old Damon Jermaine Moore of Sherwood was shot dead after a high speed chase that ended on U-S- 67. Pulaski County prosecutors will decide whether the shooting was justified, based on a state police investigation. During the chase, dispatchers told officers that Moore was reportedly involved in a Jacksonville shooting Saturday and at that time was thought to be armed and dangerous. The chase lasted about ten minutes, when an Arkansas State Police sergeant tried to stop the fleeing vehicle. Moore`s vehicle left the road and collided with another trooper`s patrol car. Gunfire erupted immediately afterward, coming from Arkansas State Police and Sherwood police. Police recovered a handgun from Moore before he was taken to the hospital where he died.
