Nutt back on stand in Richardson trial

Arkansas football coach Houston Nutt was back on the witness stand this morning when trial resumed in former basketball coach Nolan Richardson`s discrimination lawsuit against the university. A university lawyer asked whether Nutt felt Richardson had been discriminated against. Nutt replied -- quote -- "the strongest evidence is he still lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas." Nutt testified that he found the timing odd that he was handed a contract renewal at the height of the recruiting season. At the same time -- January 24th, 2002 -- Richardson was also presented with a new proposed contract. That fell in the Southeastern Conference portion of the basketball season. Nutt said Richardson called him and complained that the university was doing business with the coaches during very busy times. Nutt signed his contract, but Richardson didn`t. The university fired Richardson a couple of months later. Trial is continuing today in federal court in Little Rock.
