University of Central Arkansas president Lu Hardin has undergone surgery for eye cancer and is expected to recover fully. Hardin is at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center at Memphis, where the operation was performed today. The surgery was to remove a malignant melanoma behind his right eye. U-C-A assistant vice president Tommy Jackson said doctors reported no problems. Jackson said Hardin will stay in the hospital for seven days, but when he is released may immediately resume normal activity. He said Hardin plans to return to his office the day after discharge.
