Sexual Indecency a Problem at City Park--Website Suggests Places

Sexual indencency is becoming a popular act at a park in Searcy and police are doing something about it. In the last two weeks, Searcy Police arrested three men on charges of public sexual idecency at Riverside Park. A fourth arrest was made back in February. To make those arrests, police used undercover officers to allegedly catch them in the act. One of the reasons for so many problems at this particular park could be because of a website directing people there and other public places when looking for sexual activity. Angie Williams and her son, Brandon, recently found out that Riverside Park isn`t exactly the place they thought it was. "It`s dirty, the things that he found, the park is for family and children I think," Williams said. "There`s been exposure, those that have asked and offered favors, all of the above," said Searcy Police Lt. Tim Webb about the arrests they`ve made. The park sits on the edge of the city. Anyone looking for directions can find them at a certain pornographic website. "When we got the word that the website was there and had directions to the park, that came as a surprise to us," Webb said. And it`s not just Searcy. Once visitors to the site have selected a state, they are taken to a listing of several public places to meet for sex in different cities, including Little Rock, Conway, and even other small towns like Heber Springs. "I`m sure there is some stuff that goes on here that wouldn`t go on at normal parks, because it`s so secluded, more private out here," said Crystal Valencia, who visits the park almost monthly for a walk. But it`s not the website that concerns police. It`s the people who read it and then come to Riverside Park looking for trouble. Police say they aren`t sure who or why the park was picked for the website. But it allows those that visit it to list places and make comments on them.
