A National Guard soldier from Chidester has been killed in Iraq.
The family of Hesley Box Junior says the military informed them of his death yesterday. His father -- Hesley Box Senior -- says the circumstances of his death have not yet been fully explained to the family.
Box said his son leaves behind a wife and an 18-month-old son.
Hesley Junior joined the National Guard in 1997 and was previously deployed overseas to Bosnia and Saudi Arabia. He went to Iraq with the Arkansas-based 39th Infantry Brigade.
Box says his son had decided to get out of the guard when his current hitch is up, but was in good spirits when sent overseas.
A second son, Tarcus Kyron Box, is in Iraq with an active-duty unit. The father says Tarcus is being sent home for his brother`s funeral.
