Body of Missing Girl Identified, Left in Sheriff`s Department for 7 Years

The body of a 15-year old girl, missing for nine years is finally identified. And the White County Sheriff apologized to her family, because they had had the girl`s remains all along. They were sitting in a box in the department`s evidence room at the White County Sheriff`s office. Robin Lynn Farnsworth disappeared in January 1995. Two years later, some human remains were found outside of Russell, and sent to the Arkansas State Crime lab, but no identified. They wre sent back to the White County Sheriff`s Department where they sat until last year. "I took a loss 9 years ago, and I`m just now finding out the truth," said her father, Terry Farnsworth. Nine years ago, Terry Farnsworth`s 15-year old daughter Robin left her mother`s apartment in Bald Knob and headed for school. "She never showed up, she never came back home," said her mother, Kathy Sefers. Two years later, December 1997, a hunter found a set of human remains several miles away in Russell. Somehow, instead of remaining at the Arkansas State Crime Lab, the bones ended up in the old evidence room at the White County Sheriff`s Department. Sheriff Pat Garrett found them in March 2003, when the staff was moving the evidence into a new room. "Approximately righ there, I picked up a cardboard box, about this size...this box had no writing on it, no paperwork attached to it," said Sheriff Pat Garrett. "[It was] poorly handled, I`m not pleased at all," said Sefers. Ironically, Robin`s father, Terry, was a jailer just next door, at the White County Detention Center. "I didn`t know she was here at the time," said Farnsworth. With only 25% of her body found, Garrett says he may never confirm for Robin`s family who killed her. Althought, they`d never given up hope, the Farnsworth`s finally know what happened to their Robin. "When, why, how, and who, and I`m not gonna rest until I know why she was killed," said Farnsworth. Those are questions Sheriff Pat Garrett says he may never have the answer to after all this time. "My deepest apologies...there is absolutely no excuse," said Garrett. The Sheriff`s Department says they didn`t get this confirmation on Robin`s identity until yesterday. Pat Garrett says if he had any suspects, which he does not, he`d start with the two men already convicted of killing 18-year old Kenyatta Haynes, also in White County, also in 1995. The family says they are planning a graveside service for Robin, once her remains have been returned from the lab.
