Lawrence County To Lose Hundreds Of Jobs

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The Lawrence County judge says it is no surprise that the Bosch Power Tool company plans to close its production plant at Walnut Ridge. The move will cost the county nearly 300 jobs. County Judge Alex Latham says the plant has been slowing for three years and that its planned closure next year is a logical step. Latham said the county is always looking to attract new businesses. But he said he thinks most people without work will commute to Jonesboro or Paragould for jobs but keep their homes in Walnut Ridge. Bosch plans to keep open a tool refurbishing plant in the town. Fifty people work at that plant.
