Attorney General Mike Beebe says more than
seven thousand Arkansans have been overcharged by AT and T.
The company instituted a monthly service charge for its basic
plan in January, but incorrectly billed the charge to other
customers.
Nationwide, more than one million telecommunications customers were overcharged -- including some who do NOT use AT and T services.
Beebe says customers should closely examine their bills not
matter who what phone company they use.
Last Friday, the Florida Attorney General sued AT and T,
claiming that some consumers seeking refunds were told they could
only receive those refunds if they switched their long-distance
phone service to the company. Beebe`s office has NOT yet received
any complaints of similar conduct in this state, and Beebe says no
such action is required to receive a refund.
