The Conway community mourns the sudden death of a high school student. Seventeen-year old Greg Pruett was struck by lightning Wednesday morning while waiting to catch the school bus. A relative was looking out of her window on Donaghey Ave. when she saw him lying on the ground. "She didn`t know at the time that it was a relative, she just saw that a school child had fallen," said family friend, David Srite. An 11th-grader at Conway Senior High School, Pruett died doing what he does every morning, crossing the church parking lot. "Greg never got in a hurry, that was one of the values in life, I admired about him," said Srite. "It`s a situation just beyond belief sometimes. Just going to your bus stop, that you`re going to get struck by lightning," said Pruett`s principal, Johnny Tyler, Conway Senior High School. Family members came to see the holes left in the asphalt, where Pruett was standing when he was struck by lightning. "The fact this happened in a parking lot with a church n the corner...If you`re gonna be called home, the church parking lot`s a good a place as any to go," said Srite. Some of Pruett`s classmates left school early Wednesday. Tyler says grief counselors will be on hand as long as necessary to help the students work through the tragedy, caused by Mother Nature.
