Major Drug Busts In South Arkansas

The commander of the Tri-County Drug Task Force based at Pine Bluff says his agents have been busy this week. Lieutenant John McNeil, who heads up the group, issued a news release today outlining raids and arrests in all three counties served by the task force -- Jefferson, Lincoln and Arkansas. On Sunday, the agents executed a search warrant at a home south of the downtown area and confiscated just under a pound of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. The same day, McNeil said, the task force helped Pine Bluff police with a methamphetamine lab in a house. The lab was discovered because of an explosion at the house. McNeil said that, on Monday, his agents worked with Lincoln County deputies in raiding a home just outside Star City. He said the agents found a white substance believed to be meth, as well as several firearms. Yesterday, the task force helped Arkansas County deputies raid a home in Gillette. McNeil said the raid turned up a meth lab, a quantity of meth, other drug paraphernalia, and a gun. McNeil said a pit bull at the home bit a task force agent and was shot to death. McNeil said the raids resulted in the arrests of seven people. Posted by Mike Hellgren
