OK City Bombing`s Arkansas Connection Comes Up At Nichols` Trial

The girlfriend of an Arkansas gun dealer says weapons and ammunition found in bombing conspirator Terry Nichols` Kansas home were stolen from the dealer`s home in Arkansas. Karen Anderson testified today in Nichols` trial at McAlester, Oklahoma, about weapons found in Nichols` home after the Oklahoma City bombing. Karen Anderson identified photographs of some of the items she said were stolen from the home of gun dealer Roger Moore near Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was questioned about the November Fifth, 1994, robbery of Moore and also about her contacts with executed bomber Timothy McVeigh. Over prosecution objections, Nichols` defense attorney, Brian Hermanson, also questioned Anderson about some other communications she had. Hermanson wanted to know about Steve Colbern, who shared McVeigh`s anti-government views, and who was once a suspect in the bombing. Prosecutors claim Nichols robbed Moore of weapons, cash, gold and silver coins and jewels to help finance the April 19th, 1995, bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building. The death toll in the bombing was 168. Defense attorneys claim the robbery was committed at McVeigh`s direction by other coconspirators. They suggested as a possibility members of a group of white supremacist bank robbers known as the Midwest bank robbers. Nichols, already serving a life prison sentence on federal bombing charges, is charged with 161 counts of first degree murder in Oklahoma. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
