Rest Stop Slaying Update

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The mother of a New Jersey woman murdered at an Arkansas rest stop says she hasn`t decided if she`ll pursue her claim for damages further. Last week, the state Claims Commission rejected Lynn DiBenedetto`s claim that the state should be held liable for her daughter`s death. She is allowed by Arkansas law to appeal the claim to the state Legislature. DiBenedetto, who lives at Scotch Plains, New Jersey, is the mother of Kristin Laurite. The 25-year-old Laurite was stabbed to death four years ago at a rest area off Interstate 40 in Morrilton. The young woman`s mother said in an e-mail to The Associated Press that she was disappointed and saddened by the Claims Commission decision last week to reject the family`s claim.
