A judge fined a Woodson man one-thousand dollars and ordered him jailed for 60 days after the man pleaded guilty to staging dog fights. Prosecutors said 52-year-old Edmond Harris staged the fights near his home. In Pulaski County Judge Barry Sims also sentenced Harris to 50 hours of community service and five years` probation. He also said Harris cannot own any animals, and that his community service cannot be performed at an animal shelter. The jail time will be served on weekends. Deputies seized more than 20 dogs when they arrested Harris on September seventh. Prosecutors found a makeshift dog ring surrounded with chairs, and the ground was littered with empty beer cans. Inside the ring, two exhausted dogs lay on each other, too tired to fight.
